This bear is from an animated tale about a houseful of teddy bears living in a cozy Edwardian house. Designed by an English Artist & Illustrator Carol Lawson. Made between 1994-1996. Hand painted on a mahogany base with a porcelain bottom stamp. Discontinued. Came off the base at one point and was glued back on. Measures 5 inches tall by 5 inches. THE UPSTAIRS BEARS.... Once upon a time...there was a household of proper Edwardian Bears who resided in a large stately townhouse at number forty nine Theodore Square. Some of the bears lived Upstairs and some of the bears lived Downstairs. The Upstairs Bears are the family of Mr. Frederick "Freddy" Pumphrey Bosworth, whose great passion is his motor car. His wife, Henrietta, who has a flair for decoration, is always giving tea parties. Kitty, the eldest of the Bosworth children, is completely involved in talking and thinking of nothing but the right Honality is much more involved with attending Freddy's motor car. And there is little Polly, the kitchen maid, youngest, smallest and shyest of the staff, who on her days off spends her afternoon going for a stroll in the park.) (THE DOWNSTAIRS BEARS....."look after" the Bosworths. Barker, the butler, who is a bit straight-laced and stuffy, is in charge of the household. The cook, Mrs. Bumble, rules the kitchen and is known throughout.
